- In Capan-1 cell lines engineered to reduce pRB expression (by transfection with p16), resensitization to chemotherapy-induced apoptosis was observed. The effect was asserted to be specific to pRB depletion because, in two separate cell lines, also transfected with p16, that retained high pRB expression, chemotherapy resistance was still observed.
