Description
In a study of 2,019 patients with prostate cancer, 18 had germ-line BRCA1 mutations, 61 had germ-line BRCA2 mutations and 1,940 were non-carriers. Patients with BRCA1/2 mutations had a 2-fold higher incidence of poorly differentiated cancer (Gleason score >8), a higher incidence of advanced stage (37% vs. 28%; P=0.003), a higher incidence of nodal involvement (15% vs. 5%; P=0.0005), and a higher incidence of metastatic spread (18% vs. 9%; P=0.005).
